Define Normal.

I wanted to create a piece that normalized the female body and encouraged women to rewrite society's pre-packaged narrative about what is acceptable, beautiful, and normal. To convey the fact that this struggle has been a multi-generational and a deeply personal fight for women, I made a point to film myself and paired that with found footage and stock imagery from previous decades.

While no one video can immediately change the lens through which we view our bodies, I hope this can be a catalyst for conversations or at least provide some entertaining information.

Spread the love

I made this poster because I couldn't figure out what to say after the election. I put almost 100 up around my neighborhood and there has been a pretty rad response to them, including some people making their own versions to add to the community. So in that spirit, I thought I'd make it available for download. If you want to spread the love in your own neighborhood, feel free to download this PDF and print as needed. We're in this together, friends.

Climbing down from the observation deck

I’ve been sitting on the following post for awhile now. Maybe I was just waiting for the right time to share, but more likely I was trying to decide if I really wanted to say this at all. In general, vulnerability is not a muscle I like to exercise very often. However, as we stand at the edge of this election, I feel like maybe it’s time to ovary up and personally ask you to make impactful choices with your ballot. Dear White Community,

But the thing is, a division exists and we as white people live in a reality that is drastically different than those of so many other folks. Still waiting for my letter, Hogwarts...

“You’re a wizard, Harry.”

And so began my life-long love for Harry Potter. No, really. I love Harry Potter. Of all the fandoms in the world, that one is the only one I call my home. So what did I do when I learned that there is a new show going up in London showcasing all the graphic art from the HP movies? Obviously I shouted “SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY” and threw my credit cards at the screen. Isn't that what you just did?

Riso me this.

There are four things I am certain of after doing this project.

  1. I desperately want a Riso printer.

  2. I still am totally confused by Riso printers.

  3. I really need to work on my color selection and layering.

  4. Using other people's files is rather challenging, even if it is your friend.

An open letter to dude feminists.

Looking through my feed, I can count on one hand the number of men who have liked or commented on individual statuses pertaining to women’s issues. When taken at face value, this may seem like I post uninteresting things, it’s just my particular friends, or maybe it’s a fluke in Facebook’s algorithms. But let’s be real—that’s not it. It’s a symptom of something much bigger and I would love for us to take a collective moment and evaluate what that means.
